Half Training Schedule

This year’s project is to run in the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville in April.  As always, I researched the topic as soon as I signed up, and found that there is not much information to give me a half training schedule.  So I put one together based on input from the sources I could find, combined with my own training experience.

The result is a new web site called Half Training Schedule and it includes a blog.  I can see that with the demands this new site will place on me for managing it, including a newsletter service, I shall have even less time to post to this blog.  So I have added an RSS feed from the blog page to help you to see if there is anything in the blog of interest.

Meanwhile, why not check out the site at http://halftrainingschedule.com?  Even if you don’t plan to run a half, the training schedules there are beneficial for fitness and health runners, like me, as opposed to competitive athletes.  (I’m assuming that if you are reading this, you are not a competitive athlete!)

This is interesting…I’d like to know what you would suggest in my situation. Right now I’m aiming to shed around 20 pounds and add muscle mass to my frame. But there are such a huge number of “systems” out there and I have no idea which one to trust. Can somebody point me towards a good plan for burning fat and packing on solid muscle?

I run on my treadmill like 5 or 6 miles every other day, but started off (15 months ago) running almost every day (like 9 out of 10 days) I did that for like 8 or 9 months.
